Jensen Interceptor MKIII Convertible 1975

Jensen Interceptor Convertible – 1975

With a group of highly skilled engineers and craftsmen Jensen Motors Limited offered the MKIII Jensen Interceptor, including the unique Convertible. Within eight weeks these cars were hand-build to the highest standard and this example left the small English factory in West Bromwich in 1975. Jensen made 509 of these topless Interceptors for the few who wanted the finest. The period brochure told there was no cigarette lighter, but you could light up your cigar instead.

This Jensen Interceptor Convertible is a Grand Tourer that could be driven all year round. Interceptors are known for having a powerful air-conditioning that’s capable of cooling all passengers in Mediterranean climates. Combined with a 4.5kW heating system Jensen set a standard for cars regardless of road and climatic conditions and it makes the Interceptor such a pleasant drivers car today. Its 7.2 liter V8 (Chrysler), fitted to the fine Torqueflite 3-speed automatic gearbox, still has plenty of power for cruising and speeding.

The level of details is higher than in any other Jensen. This matching number Jensen Intercepter Convertible is known for being the best example out there. It stands out. This convertible was restored with much dedication by classic car specialist Arie van der Ham in Kamerik, The Netherlands. This full body-off restoration took twelve years in total and is well documented. The upholsterer made it into his special project and took care of the interior’s restoration. He outperformed the Jensen standards. And as a fitter/trimmer he did the power operated fully wool lined hood too. So you’ll notice the touch of the master’s hand on the inside and outside.

A ‘regular’ Interceptor with Connolly English Leather and deep Wilton carpets is already on top of its game when it comes to interior build quality, but this is next level with a perfect fit everywhere you look. After restoration this one-of-a-kind green/tan Interceptor Convertible has won many prizes on several Jensen meetings and contests in the U.K. and it got the first in class at the 2016 Concours d’Elegance Suisse.
